Work to transform the centre in Queensland, Australia will start this quarter and continue for 30 months. The project will add about 30,000m2 of new retail space. Changes will include a 14,200m2 department store, refitting of an existing department store on a new footprint, additional parking, upgrades to external facades and a facelift for existing retail areas within the centre.
Following the redevelopment, the centre鈥檚 retail space will increase to about 115,000m2 and will house approximately 340 retailers.
鈥淏rookfield Multiplex is very excited to be a part of this project which represents one of the largest redevelopment investments made in Brisbane鈥檚 retailing sector over the past decade,鈥 said Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director David Ghannoum.
The go-ahead for the redevelopment of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre marks the culmination of four years of planning and consultation with Brisbane City Council, state government agencies and retailers. It will create 1,500 jobs during the construction phase and about 1,200 permanent, part-time and casual positions upon completion.
