The project forms a major part of the wider redevelopment of the outer harbour of the Marina de Vilamoura in the Algarve region.
The complex will feature a canopy that is designed to appear to float over the marina buildings. Public areas
and pedestrian terraces are also part of the Broadway Malyan design. 鈥淚t will create an iconic gateway to the renowned marina, and raise the profile of the outer harbour, as well as provide shade for the buildings and
public areas during the summer, and protection from the elements in the winter,鈥� said the practice鈥檚 Lisbon-based director Margarida Caldeira.
The scheme includes retail and hospitality space, as well as new headquarters office space for Lusort and the port authorities. There will also be workshop space to support the adjacent shipyard, basement parking and landscaped areas.
