It was back in that Bouygues UK was appointed for Phase 3 of the Battersea Power Station project in a deal expected to be worth more than 拢1bn. Since then Bouygues has been managing the design, procurement and pre-construction site activities but has been unable to agree terms to move on to the main build phase.

A replacement contractor will now be brought in instead.

In a joint statement, client and contractor said: 鈥淏attersea Power Station and Bouygues UK have mutually agreed not to extend Bouygues UK鈥檚 involvement in the project beyond the current scope of pre-construction services which Bouygues UK had been appointed to perform on Phase 3 of the development.

鈥淥n behalf of the project, Bouygues UK has been managing the design, procurement and site activities, and continues to do this with Battersea鈥檚 full support.聽 These services will be wound down over the coming months as part of the hand-over and transition process to a new contracting partner.

鈥淏attersea Power Station is in discussions with some of the UK鈥檚 leading contractors for this next phase of the scheme.

鈥淭his change in contracting partner does not affect the current progress on site as the trade contractors such as Balfour Beatty, McGee and others, are already directly appointed by the developer and their ongoing management will continue to be undertaken by the incumbent project team, including Bouygues UK during the transition.鈥

Phase 3 will comprise 1,305 apartments on either side of a 250-metre long split-level pedestrian high street, called The Electric Boulevard, which will be the main gateway to the entire Battersea development. To the west of the high street will be Foster+Partners鈥 Battersea Roof Gardens building. To the east is Gehry Partners鈥 Prospect Place, a collection of five buildings each with sculptural fa莽ades said to be inspired by London鈥檚 John Nash Regency terraces.
