Using the Energy-Pass tool involves fitting a monitor screen in each flat to gauge and keep track of the consumption of heating, hot water and electricity. The service also includes information and support for tenants, as well as maintenance of the buildings over a period of several years.
The Energy-Pass is designed to enable social landlords to provide their tenants with a means of controlling energy costs. In addition, the screens in tenants' homes can also be used to offer a range of additional services, including weather forecasts and public transport timetables.
These services have been developed in partnership with the social landlord France Habitation on an experimental basis for an initial operation in Bobigny, north of Paris. The project has received financial support from the ADEME, the French Environment and Energy Management Agency.
