Bellway said that in the six months to 31st January 2015 it had completed 23.6% more homes across its seven northern divisions than in the same period the year before – 1,822 homes, up from 1,474.
By comparison, its southern divisions saw a 9.1% increase to 1,932 homes up from 1,771.
Across the group there was a 15.7% increase in the number of housing completions to 3,754 (2014 H1: 3,245).
Bellway said that its housing revenue had risen 19% to more than £820m for the six-month period  (2014 H1: £688.2m) and the operating margin for the first half of the year is expected to approach 20%, up from 15.6% last year.
Chief executive Ted Ayres said: "The group's strategy of delivering volume growth, with a strong focus on return on capital employed has resulted in a further significant rise in profitability. With advanced plans to open a sixteenth division in the second half of the financial year, Bellway is well positioned to deliver further earnings growth."
