United Plant Services will continue to support Bell machines in Scotland鈥檚 central belt.

The new facility, on the same industrial park as the company鈥檚 existing UK base in Burton-on-Trent, has four workshop bays for machine repairs and refurbishment, along with a 1,400 m2 yard to give space for articulated dump trucks and wheeled loaders waiting for dispatch.

Managing director Nick Learoyd said: 鈥淲e have seen unprecedented growth over the past year, as our customers seek to renew their fleets in anticipation of increased work in quarrying and construction.聽 During the recession, it was understandable that companies 鈥榤ade do鈥 with existing plant and equipment, but the greater confidence we are seeing now means that orders are at an all-time high.

鈥淪eeking additional space is essential; at the same time, with more Bell ADTs and wheeled loaders in the field, it made sense to make a statement of intent about our customer focus by bringing our service and support in-house, for England and Wales.鈥

Previously, this provision was undertaken by United Plant Services (UPS), a specialist plant maintenance contractor with nationwide reach.聽 鈥淯PS has done a great job for us and will continue to offer secondary support during periods of high demand,鈥 Mr Learoyd said. 鈥淣onetheless, the time is right for Bell to employ a team of engineers directly, operating from a dedicated base.鈥
