Beard reports 50% leap in orders

19 Mar 15 Southwest construction group Beard has delivered a record set of financial results for 2014.

In the year ended 31st December 2014, Beard reported 47% growth pre-tax profits from 拢1.4m in 2013 to 拢2.1m.

Despite challenging trading conditions, turnover grew 15% to 拢88.1m (2013: 拢77.3m). The company鈥檚 order book rose by 50% from 拢40m to 拢60m during 2014 while cash balances often exceeded 拢6m.

Projects won last year included: a 拢5.3m contract to transform the former HM Revenue & Customs tax office into student accommodation in Bristol; a 拢4.7m community centre construction for Oxford City Council in Oxford; a 拢3m extension of Haydonleigh Primary School in Swindon for Swindon Borough Council; a 拢960,000 refurbishment and extension of the Royal Surrey County Hospital鈥檚 Ophthalmology Department in Guildford; and a multi-million pound framework scheme to build a new three-storey teaching complex at Durrington High School in Worthing for West Sussex County Council.

He added: 鈥淲e鈥檝e also positioned the company for its next stage of growth by strengthening our leadership team, increasing our investment in training and recruitment and enhancing the services and support we provide to our customers.鈥
