The 拢22m project will see the existing secondary school replaced with new school buildings.
Acting head of schools at Powys County Council, Gareth Jones, said: 鈥淲e have reached a significant stage in this important project for secondary school provision in South Powys. Appointing a contractor means we will be able progress design and build plans and we look forward to working closely with the school and the community.鈥
BAM construction director Craig Allen said: 鈥淭his excellent win was secured against strong competition and shows BAM鈥檚 ability to come up with the right ideas for our clients. This education scheme builds on our strong track record in Wales, where we have created award winning structures such as the Cubric building for Cardiff University.
鈥淭he scheme also carries unique and sensitive design challenges as Brecon is an international dark sky reserve so light pollution requires detailed consideration.聽 We look forward to working closely with all of our partners and stakeholders over the coming months to develop a fantastic high school design.鈥
