The 11,500m2 campus will have capacity for up to 2,000 students on vocational courses. Work begins next month and should be finished by spring 2016.
BAM recently finished construction of Sunderland College鈥檚 new Sports and Visual & Performing Arts buildings,
BAM construction director Andrew Warwick said: 鈥淭he new City Campus building will house state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces and play a pivotal role in the regeneration of the city centre. We鈥檙e therefore delighted to be working with Sunderland College again on this exciting new development.鈥�
Sunderland City Council leader Paul Watson added: 鈥淚鈥檓 delighted that work is due to get underway on the new City Campus next month. There is a large amount of work already underway to improve the city centre and this development will really help to invigorate that area.鈥�
