Chair of governors Roger Alston said: 鈥淚t was a very difficult choice between the two companies, as both were excellent and had worked really hard, but BAM鈥檚 plans just had the edge.鈥�
The academy, known as George Tomlinson School until last year, is being completely rebuilt. Work is scheduled to begin in December and expected to be completed by March 2013.
Bolton councillor Nick Peel said: 鈥淭he plans put forward were really impressive, and will create an excellent learning environment for the academy鈥檚 students. I am looking forward to seeing the plans become reality.鈥�
