BAM acquisition expands FM presence

16 Jan 13 BAM Construct UK has acquired facilities management services provider Sutton Group and its subsidiary Sutton Maintenance.

The acquisition of Sutton Group is expected to contribute approximately 拢13m to BAM鈥檚 turnover from its facilities management activities and will increase the number of employees by more than 100.

Sutton Group was established in 1978 and operates from four locations: London, Luton, Manchester and Glasgow. It provides hard and soft maintenance facilities and its portfolio includes retail, office and residential properties.

BAM鈥檚 UK facilities management arm, BAM FM, has been operating since 2001, and provides services at more than 30 schools. In 2011 it expanded to the private sector with customers such as Unison. It also manages commercial buildings in the BAM Properties鈥 portfolio.

BAM FM and Sutton have worked together regularly as Sutton has provided mechanical and electrical support at many of the sites that BAM FM manages. The value of the work Sutton performed for BAM in 2012 was approximately 拢1.5m. The two companies collaborated to provide FM services at some of the sites in the Athletes Village at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

BAM said that the acquisition of Sutton Group and Sutton Maintenance would enable it to offer a wider range of FM services.

BAM looks to play an increasing role in the management of its customers鈥 construction and infrastructure assets in our European home markets. BAM has the capability to offer its customers a full range of services across the construction life cycle.鈥
