For BAE Systems, BBRCE will carry out the 拢7.2m construction of a new access road in its Bishopton development, including a bridge over the existing railway. This project is a significant element of BAE Systems鈥 long-term development of the site for a mix of residential, retail and commercial use. BAE鈥檚 scheme will eventually include a new junction on the M8.

Separately, Network Rail has awarded BBRCE a 拢6.1m contract for platform refurbishment of seven rail stations. Platform replacement with associated drainage and mechanical and electrical work will take place at Blair Atholl, Bowling, Cambuslang, Crosshill, Dingwall, Maybole and Motherwell stations.

Additionally, Network Rail has awarded BBRCE the Access for All Framework 鈥 Scotland (Package 3), which has a total potential value of 拢10m. Starting with a 拢2m contract to upgrade Perth Station the works are designed to improve disabled access for up to six stations.

BBRCE regional managing director Adam Thomson said: 鈥淭he important work we will carry out in Bishopton will help to start the regeneration of a disused site and we hope that success with this contract will lead to further opportunities with BAE Systems. The award of contracts by Network Rail will allow us to build on the relationship we have developed over the past 10 years.鈥

Perth is the first station to benefit from the upgrades as a result of the Access for All Framework 鈥 Scotland (Package 3). However, five further stations are set for upgrading and BBRCE is now designing options to present to Network Rail.
