Balfour Beatty wins 2015 contracts league

14 Dec 15 With two weeks of the year still left to run, Balfour Beatty has already been handed the trophy for the construction company winning the most new work in 2015.

Over the past 12 months Balfour Beatty has won 拢3,135.3m of new construction work, according to data gathered by The Builders鈥 Conference, making it a clear winner.

Laing O鈥橰ourke was in second place with 拢2,594.8m and Morgan Sindall third with 拢1,999.5m. They might not have been the best performing construction companies of 2015 or the most profitable, but they won the most work.

Morgan Sindall also won more individual pieces of new business than any other construction company in 2015, with 220 contract awards.

At an awards dinner in London last week, The Builders鈥 Conference presented Balfour Beatty with a winner鈥檚 trophy.

It also gave its 鈥榥ew business achievement award鈥 for the subcontractor that had grown turnover the most orders during the past 12 month. This went to piling specialist Van Elle.

There was also a special 鈥榩resident鈥檚 award鈥 for a company that has 鈥榮tood out in terms of new construction orders鈥. 聽This went Hill Partnerships, which won 15 contracts in 2015 worth 拢280.4m in aggregate.

The Builders鈥 Conference chief executive Neil Edwards said: 鈥淭here are lots of great construction awards out there but ours are transparent as they are based wholly upon mathematics.聽聽 Balfour Beatty, Van Elle and Hill Partnership each achieved an incredible performance during 2015 and we are delighted to recognise and reward that achievement.鈥
