Under the agreement, Balfour Beatty will preconstruction services for the new Virginia Treatment Center for Children project in Richmond under VCU鈥檚 construction management-at-risk procurement system.
The 10,870m2, 32-bed facility will serve as a replacement in-patient behavioural health centre for children and will be part of the existing Children鈥檚 Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Brook Road campus. The facility will accommodate clinical, education, research, and community needs for VCU.
It marks Balfour Beatty鈥檚 first project for VCU. 聽鈥淲e are thrilled to have the opportunity to be a relentless ally for such a respected institute as Virginia Commonwealth University and the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System,鈥 said David Laib, senior vice president of Balfour Beatty鈥檚 Washington, DC division. 鈥淲e hope that this is the beginning of a long relationship, and look forward to providing them a world class behavioural health facility.鈥
Construction is scheduled to begin in September with completion slated for the end of 2015.
