Balfour Beatty lands £11m London Underground power work

6 Jan 15 Balfour Beatty has been awarded a contract to design, upgrade and install more than 40km of cables for London Underground.

Balfour Beatty鈥檚 Power Systems business will installation 11kV and 22kV electricity cables, as well as fibre optic pilot cables. It will also decommission old high voltage cables.

Work starts in January 2015 and is scheduled to be complete in early 2017.

The project is designed to improve resilience across London Underground鈥檚 power supply infrastructure and includes work to renew cabling and connect several substations to key power supply points.

Balfour Beatty was selected for three out of the four work lots awarded under the 拢250m power cabling framework in spring 2014.

We have a long and established relationship with our customer and we look forward to delivering this project, from design through to installation, testing and maintenance.鈥
