The contract, in which Gammon has a 50% share, is for the construction of a major terminus station in the West Kowloon district. West Kowloon Terminus Station North is part of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL), which forms part of China's strategic national express rail network.
The terminus will serve as gateway to the mainland of China with more than 100,000 passengers a day passing through. Facilities will include nine long-haul and six shuttle platforms, 聽customs and immigration facilities, departure lounges, duty free and other retail outlets. A key element is a dramatic steel and glass roof structure above the 聽entrance.聽

This is the second XRL contract secured by the joint venture, following the award of the West Kowloon Terminus Approach Tunnel South in 2010.
Construction begins this month with an expected completion date in 2015.
