The new €600m (£507m) contract is next to two others recently won by the same team, allowing major operational synergies and economies of scale. FCC is leader of the JV and Spain’s Convensa also has a 1% stake.
The latest contract involves the rehabilitation of about 40km in the section between Gurasada and Simeria, with the building of 17 bridges, electrification, the installation of a new signalling and telecommunications system, the renovation of eight railway stations and some minor works. The planned duration of the works is three years. The split between the JV partners is 49.5% FCC, 49.5% Astaldi and 1% Convensa.
The contract is expected to be signed in June.
