Amey expands reach of Qatari civils business

2 Jun 16 Amey’s consulting team has secured Grade A Civil Engineering Registration for its business in Qatar and can now tender for projects not normally open to international firms.

Completing the registration has taken more than a year and has involved establishing a permanent business in Qatar, undergoing written exams and submitting a case to the Engineering Committee at the Ministry of Municipality & Environment (MME).

Now that the process has been finalised, Amey is able to tender for a wide array of projects normally available only to local firms.

Amey鈥檚 international business development manager Steven Yule said: 鈥淥btaining Engineering Registration has been one of the more significant challenges during my four years working for Amey in Qatar.聽 Through the professional commitment and support of our dedicated engineers, and through the wider support of our colleagues in the UK, we have achieved a major milestone for Amey鈥檚 committed presence in Qatar.鈥

Richard Allen, Amey鈥檚 business director in Qatar added: 鈥淎chieving Engineering Registration in Qatar supports our international growth aspirations, and further demonstrates our commitment to the local and regional market.鈥

Amey has had a presence in Qatar since 2012, providing a range of professional services to state highways authority, Ashghal, as well as providing asset management advisory services into a number of work streams for Kahramaa, the state-owned utilities provider.
