Amey acquires transport planning consultant

1 Feb 11 Amey has taken over traffic and transport consultant Transportation Planning (International) Ltd " its third acquisition in the past year.

The acquisition will help Amey 鈥渙ptimise delivery of its strategic transport schemes across the UK鈥, the company said. It also gets transport consultancy contracts across the UK for clients in central and local government as well as for the private sector.

TPi's head office is in Birmingham, with local offices in聽London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Cork and Dublin.

All of TPi鈥檚 professional staff are joining Amey鈥檚 consultancy business, taking Amey鈥檚 consultancy staff to 2,300 鈥 a 10-fold increase in the six years since it acquired Owen Williams.

Both Amey and TPi believe that integrating the two businesses will deliver the best results for all parties including our clients.鈥

The agreement follows Amey鈥檚 acquisition of the 100-strong national rail consultancy of WYG Engineering (formerly White Young Green) in June 2010. In addition, Amey and its joint venture partner Cespa (AmeyCespa), both wholly owned subsidiaries of Spanish company Ferrovial, acquired the waste management business Donarbon. This company is delivering a 28-year, 拢730m waste management PFI contract for Cambridgeshire County Council.
