Aecom opens Singapore sustainability centre

20 Feb 23 US engineering consultant Aecom has set up a “Sustainable Legacies Centre of Excellence” in Singapore.

The centre of excellence (CoE) will serve as a hub for innovation, training and 鈥渢hought leadership鈥 and enhance the skills of Aecom鈥檚 Singaporean employees, the company said.

Aecom鈥檚 鈥楽ustainable Legacies鈥 strategy seeks to embed environment and social corporate governance (ESG) principles across the company鈥檚 operations worldwide.

The new CoE comprises three components: a sustainable legacies academy where employees will undergo structured training and technical workshops; ESG project management through which employees will be 聽seconded to offices in other countries to contribute to sustainability projects; and 鈥榯hought leadership鈥 鈥 groupspeak for inculcating employees in ideas relating to sustainability.

鈥淪ingapore has risen rapidly as a global leader in sustainable development thanks to exceptional talent and the city nation鈥檚 bold approach to addressing environmental issues,鈥 said Aecom president Lara Poloni.

鈥淲e鈥檙e proud to continue to partner with the Singapore Economic Development Board, or EDB, to deepen Singapore鈥檚 extensive expertise in this growing field. The centre presents a promising partnership opportunity, one that will build on our leading environmental, sustainability and resilience capabilities as we drive forward our Sustainable Legacies strategy, and Singapore鈥檚 own Green Plan 2030.鈥
