AB2000鈥檚 main depot is in Cambuslang, near Glasgow. Last year it opened a depot in Inverness and more recently acquired premises for an Aberdeen operation.
Aberdeenshire-based Ellon Plant will continue to trade under its own name, with former owner Arlene Harrison remaining as plant manager. Ellon Plant will relocate to AB2000鈥檚 new Aberdeen premises at Fountainbleau, Tipperty.
Former Hewden manager David Christie, AB2000鈥檚 northern area manager, takes charge of the Inverness and Aberdeen depots.
AB2000 is owned by Adam Bruce, past president of the Scottish Plant Owners Association. He said: 鈥淏uying Ellon Plant Hire Ltd brings us local operators and management, and an established customer base.聽 The deal (worth around a third of a million pounds) provides AB2000 with an excellent platform from which to expand our business in the northeast of Scotland.鈥�
Mr Bruce formed AB 2000 in 1995. In 2002 the company acquired the specialised rail plant assets of G Plant Rail Ltd. In 2005 it added the mobile crane and plant fleet of Motherwell Bridge.
