Three contractors have been picked for a West Midlands construction framework contract worth up to 拢180m.
Thomas Vale, Kier Moss, and Spellar Metcalfe were chosen for the four-year deal by Worcestershire County Council, acting as a central purchasing body on behalf of several other public sector procuring bodies.
Construction work which will be procured through the West Midlands Contractor Framework includes: education; office accommodation; fire and rescue facilities; health centres; police stations and custody suites.
Projects are likely to include both new build and refurbishment schemes, and may involve specialist works such as forensic facilities, control centres, leisure facilities, cultural, and adult residential and day care facilities. Some schemes may be let on a design-and-build basis.
The framework will initially cover projects with a value above 拢1m. It is estimated there will be between 15 and 20 projects per year ranging in value between 拢1m and 拢5m, though no more than three with a value over 拢5m during the duration of the framework. After the first year of operation, projects worth less than 拢1m may be added to the framework.
Besides Worcestershire, other organisations participating in the framework are: the County of Herefordshire District Council; West Mercia Police Authority; Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service. However, the framework is open for use by other publicly-funded bodies in the West Midlands Government Office Region.
