Tesco has won a public inquiry into plans to build a 150,000 sq ft superstore in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
The decision follows a two-year planning wrangle with Milton Keynes council, which rejected the scheme last June over concerns about its impact on the Wolverton conservation area and on the town centre. The public inquiry was held last November.
Tesco will now build the store on stilts, bringing the trading floor to street level and allowing for parking underneath, which will result in the scheme being better integrated with the town centre.
