Morgan Sindall has been chosen for an 拢8.1m construction contract to deliver a new academic building for Teesside University.
The project will see the Durham-based firm construct a five-storey undergraduate and postgraduate teaching facility at the university鈥檚 Darlington campus.
The new building, which has a total floor area of 4,000 sq metres, will provide a base for businesses within the Tees Valley looking to develop the skills of their workforce at a higher level.
A major feature of the scheme will be the creation of a ship鈥檚 fin, made out of a sub-structure of metal and a finished elevation treatment of glazing and brickwork.
The project is due to be completed in September 2011.
