Morgan Sindall social housing subsidiary Lovell has acquired Powerminster Gleeson Services from M J Gleeson Group.

All Powerminster鈥檚 contracts, and the company鈥檚 178-strong workforce, will transfer to Lovell Respond, the Lovell response maintenance business.

Powerminster delivers comprehensive planned and reactive maintenance solutions, including a 24/7 responsive service, to the social housing sector.

It specialises in providing long-term estate management services on Private Finance Initiative (PFI) schemes. Lovell Respond鈥檚 current business is mainly focussed on the Midlands, whilst Powerminster has a strong presence in the North West, North East and South East of England.

Lovell Respond has expertise in reactive and programmed maintenance contracts including day-to-day responsive repairs, refurbishment of void properties, programmed maintenance and electrical and gas installations servicing and repair. Recent wins include a 拢30m, five-year housing repairs and maintenance contract for Gloucester City Homes, which manages Gloucester City Council鈥檚 5,000 homes.

鈥淧owerminster鈥檚 expertise in long-term PFI estates and facilities management complements Lovell Respond鈥檚 strength in day-to-day maintenance services,鈥 says Lovell managing director Stewart Davenport. 鈥淲ith social housing contracts increasingly being tendered on a combined 鈥榩lanned and response maintenance鈥 basis, the expanded business will create a seamless 鈥榦ne stop shop鈥, offering clients the full range of maintenance services alongside our expertise in new-build and refurbishment.

鈥淲e are strongly placed for opportunities offered by the latest round of housing PFI schemes as well as having capacity for working on PFIs in other sectors.鈥
