Construction work has started on the UK's most remote school, on the Isles of Scilly.
The Five Islands School on St Mary鈥檚 is being built by Kier Western at a cost of 拢15m.
The scheme is being delivered through Building Schools for the Future.
The construction programme will involve materials, equipment, and workers being transported from the mainland, 28 miles away.
The school will cater for pupils aged 3 to 16, a first in the Building Schools for the Future programme, and will include nursery, primary and secondary class bases. It will provide specialist teaching areas for design & technology, science and performing arts, as well as a library, caf茅 and multi-use games area.

The school has been designed by Grainge Architects and project-managed by Mace Group.
