The 25 year, 拢2.7bn PFI for maintenance and management of Birmingham鈥檚 highways is the UK鈥檚 biggest local government highways sector PFI.

The contract gives Amey responsibility for improving and maintaining 2,500km of the city鈥檚 road network, nearly 100,000 street lights, as well as over 850 highway bridges, structures and tunnels.

They will also be continuing the work already started by the council to repair the damage to the road surfaces as a result of the worst winter for 30 years.

Amey has a 鈥榊ear 1鈥 Resurfacing Programme already prepared, but is likely to adjust the programme to take account of winter damage like potholes.
