£32k for STG’s perfect 10 masquerade charity ball

15 Oct 10 Award winning building contractor, Strategic Team Group, celebrated its tenth anniversary by hosting the Perfect 10 Masquerade Charity Ball on Saturday 9th October 2010 in the majestic grounds of Harewood House, Leeds, raising over £32,000 for the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract, which cares for adults with progressive illnesses offering specialist respite, terminal and palliative care.

Sponsored by builders鈥 merchants, Jewson, the event, the third hosted by the firm in the last four years, was compered by Yorkshire rugby legend and British Lion, John Bentley, and saw some 500 guests from the Yorkshire business community, construction and rail industry don intricate and extravagant masks.聽 Guests dug deep to boost charity coffers whilst enjoying a champagne reception followed by a mouth-watering gourmet meal, as they were serenaded by soul diva, Janet Jaye before dancing the night away to tunes from band of the moment, Lazy Baby and Leeds born singer, Sulene Flemming.聽 The marquee was decked out with autumnal tree displays courtesy of Palmers Plants and decadent jewel coloured table arrangements from Lawnswood Floral Design.聽聽

The highlight of the evening was the charity auction, which saw guests outbidding each other in an attempt to grab some of the 鈥榤oney can鈥檛 buy鈥 prizes, which ranged from all expenses paid trip joining the support crew for the world鈥檚 toughest endurance bike challenge, Race Across America, a coaching session with Leeds Carnegie to VIP tickets to the Queen Mother Trophy Final at Cirencester Park.聽 Following a thought provoking and emotive speech by Amanda Henderson, a nurse from the hospice, over 拢13,000 of the total 拢33,000 raised on the night, was pledged by guests to purchase life changing medical equipment, including 11 syringe drivers and an infusion pump for hospice patients.聽

At midnight, to mark the symbolic date, the 10th of the 10th of the 10th, guests were mesmerised by an indoor firework display and confetti drop, as Lazy Baby and Sulene Flemming launched into the Black Eyed Peas鈥 number, 鈥楾onight鈥檚 Gonna Be A Good Night鈥.聽

Commenting on the celebrations, Strategic Team Group鈥檚 business development director, Charles Tweed said:
