The development will occupy a 1.1 hectare site bordering Cheam Park and partly within the Cheam Village Conservation Area. The site has provided affordable housing for a number of years but it has been decided that the accommodation is no longer fit for purpose and cannot be refurbished cost-effectively.
The scheme will comprise 116 one- and two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent and shared ownership for residents of the London Borough of Sutton. A further 15 two-bedroom apartments will be built for private sale.
The accommodation is arranged in four blocks with communal facilities.
Completion of the first phase is expected by spring 2014.
