Judged over the past month by an independent panel of nine international demolition industry experts including Jim Graham, Winter Environmental, USA, William Sinclair, Safedem UK (and former President of NFDC) and Patrick Frye, Cardem, France, D&Ri recorded a healthy number of entries from worldwide demolition contractor contenders, despite the Coronavirus disruption.
The Awards Event will take place online this year, on 12th November at 3pm, and NFDC is proud to be involved as a Supporting Sponsor.

Alford Technologies/Delta Group (UK/Australia) for the Hazelwood Power Station chimneys demolition project.
Jet Demolition (South Africa) for the controlled demolition of the Bank of Lisbon building in central Johannesburg.
Precision Demolition (UK) for the demolition of the multi-storey car park in a town centre environment in Barnsley in the north of England.
Industrial Demolition:
Demex (Australia) whose project included the demolition of 43 buildings in the Mulwala explosives facility in New South Wales.
*NFDC Member* Erith Contractors (UK) for asbestos removal, decontamination, deplant and demolition at two chloromethanes facilities in Runcorn, north west England.
Liberty Industrial (Australia) for a programme of works comprising six packages involving the removal of mineral sands mining and processing facilities in several remote locations.
McMahon Services (Australia) for deconstructing and scrapping quay and gantry cranes at PSA’s Singapore City terminals.
Safety & Training:
Brandenburg Industrial Service Co (USA) which successfully completed the Challenge pilot programme executed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Budget Demolition (Canada) which achieved Certificate of Recognition health and safety accreditation after a five-year overhaul of its entire safety programme.
Demoliciones Mitre (Argentina) which gained B Corporation certification for its social and environmental performance.
Priestly Demolition (Canada) which achieved a Certificate of Recognition in Ontario in 2020 and has started bringing safety and training programmes in house for increased flexibility.
Civils Demolition:
Delta Group (Australia) for Sydney Metro Martin Place North Station where it designed a complex demolition works programme to overcome several engineering challenges.
Despe (Italy) for the Mungivacca project in Bari, where it demolished a 25 m (82 ft) building using full-height perimeter scaffolding and a tower crane.
*NFDC Member* Erith Contractors (UK) for the Cleveland Street substructure project, a basement demolition including asbestos removal and soft strip.
Flesan Demolition (Chile) for demolishing concrete trestles in Puerto Barquitos without noise or dust pollution.
Urban Demolition under $10M:
Budget Demolition (Canada) for the Old Windsor City Hall project which imposed challenges including limited site access, limited workspace, dust migration and nearby historic monuments.
Despe (Italy) for the demolition of a site formerly owned by the Fiat motor company in the centre of the coastal city of Livorno.
Flesan (Chile) for its work on the former Copesa facilities in suburban Santiago, totalling 16,500 sq m (177,600 sq ft) in an eight-month period.
Veit & Company (USA) the company was subcontractor for demolition and abatement of a 13-storey dormitory building at Marquette University, Wisconsin.
Urban Demolition US$10M+:
*NFDC Member* Erith Contractors (UK) for One Sherwood Street in London, otherwise known as Piccadilly Lights, where it began a full enabling package during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kiewit Infrastructure West Co (USA) for the demolition of the 65-year old Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle after historical damage caused by an earthquake.
Mainland Civil Queensland (Australia) for the demolition of the 12-storey Department of Primary Industries building in Brisbane where the scope of works increased during the project.
Veit & Company (USA) the company was subcontractor for demolition and abatement of a 13-storey dormitory building at Marquette University, Wisconsin.
Recycling & Environmental:
Costello Dismantling (USA) for diverting thousands of tons of asbestos-filled concrete from being landfilled during a 1960s primary school.
Demoliciones Mitre (Argentina) for its Osram project which recycled 32,000 t of crushed material and more than 780 t of scrap.
Despe (Italy) for the 251,000 sq m (2.7 million sq ft) “Chorus Life” asbestos removal and land reclamation project.
Collaboration in Demolition:
